What age range is DinoFest aimed at?
We welcome everyone – families, grandparents, students, birthday parties, and Jurassic Park fans!
DinoFest is ideal for families with children aged 3-9 years old, and for those ‘big kids’ amongst us who are still fascinated by dinosaurs.
Are Children Under-2 Free?
Yes – entry is free for children who are under 2 years on the day that they come to DinoFest.
What happens if it rains?
We go ahead come rain or shine – our dinosaurs don’t mind a bit of rain!
Please check the weather forecast and our facebook page for updates, and bring umbrellas and gum boots.
If there is solid, torrential rain and it’s simply not possible to go ahead we will cancel and provide a full refund.
DinoFest is an outdoor event so please bring sun block and a drink.
Will it be too scary for my little one?
Parental guidance is advised for children Under-5 years old
Our dinosaurs are very friendly and the Encounters are not designed to frighten anyone, however we do advise parental guidance.
Our dinosaur costumes are realistic and some very young children might find the larger dinosaurs scary.
You know your child best, and are best placed to judge if it will be a bit too much for him or her.
2). It is an outdoor event – you can easily walk away to do other activities, like the Dino Dig or Sharks Teeth to keep them occupied.
3). Stand in the ‘Little Dino’ kids zone (Under 5’s) where we make a point of bringing baby dinosaurs first to help kids acclimatise.
We hope this helps!
Do you allow dogs?
We do not allow dogs into DinoFest – they need to remain outside where we provide dog water bowls.
We know that the majority of dogs are well behaved, but some animals may get agitated by our dinosaurs and we host large numbers of children in our audiences.
How long are the Dinosaur Encounters?
The Dinosaur Encounters are 35-40 mins long (max) – any longer than this and we lose the attention of our younger audience members.
Following the Encounter there is a 15 – 20 minute opportunity to meet and greet the dinosaurs up close and personal for photos.
What’s included in the DinoFest ticket?
DinoFest includes the Dinosaur Encounter PLUS a Kids Dino Dig, ‘Feel a Fossil,’ temporary dinosaur tattoos, sieving for fossil sharks teeth, (genuine 55 million years old – you get to keep one), art activities, and a mini Dinosaur Trail (meet the types of dinosaur discovered in New Zealand).
Help! I can’t print my ticket?
Please show your ticket on a mobile or tablet device.
Refunds or change of ticket date?
Please contact our ticket partner eventfinda.
Smoking is not allowed in DinoFest or around the entrance.
Do you sell tickets on the Door?
We limit the audience numbers per session to ensure everyone who comes gets a change to pat and interact with the dinosaurs.
If we have any spare tickets we would sell them on the door – however we have previously sold out every show, hence we highly recommend purchasing in advance to avoid disappointment.
